Chama District is the largest district in Eastern Province. It covers the total land coverage area of about 17, 630 Km2 and as per 2010 Census, the district boasts of the total population of 130, 891. It has an annual growth rate of 4.0%. Chama district has abundant natural resources such as wildlife, rivers like the luangwa river, variety of tree species such as Mukula tree, Mopani tree, Baobab tree and various crops such as the famous Chama rice to mention but a few.
